Metro claims that Tony Margiocchi was left with black tyre marks across his legs and was taken to Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. Eyewitnesses claimed that the Prince's minder drove straight on and did not stop to tend to the photographer.

"We can confirm that an unmarked police vehicle did hit a man at around 2am," a police spokesperson said. "The man was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Services and he has sustained a leg injury."

It was recently confirmed that Prince Harry will serve as Prince William's best man at his upcoming wedding to Kate Middleton.

Cheryl Cole 'bumped from X Factor US panel'

Cheryl Cole will reportedly not serve as a judge on the upcoming US version of The X Factor.

According to the Daily Star, the 'Promise This' singer has been snubbed by Fox bosses over concerns about her thick Geordie accent and lack of profile stateside.

Friends close to Cole have claimed that the 27-year-old will now fill the "Sinitta role", advising head judge and executive producer Simon Cowell in the latter stages of the competition, just as the 'So Macho' singer does in the UK version.

A source said: "Simon really wanted Cheryl on the panel with him but it’s been an unwinnable battle. People just don’t know who she is over there and people struggle to understand what she’s saying.

"Simon is consoling her with the offer of helping him win the first series, which would give her profile a massive boost. The fact is she’s got a decision to make."

Cole was thought to have been working with an LA voice coach in order to quell fears about her regional slang, but the publication claims that Cowell has simply been unable to win over unconvinced network chiefs.

"Simon Cowell is still one of her biggest supporters," the insider said. "But even though the X Factor is his idea it's the executives at Fox who have the ultimate say over the make-up of the show."

They added: "Cheryl hasn’t heard or seen him since she arrived."

It was reported earlier this month that Cole had been offered £10 million to sit on the X Factor USA panel. Her and Cowell's future on the UK show has frequently been called into question as speculation about the American version continues.

Bieber haircut 'planned for a while'

Justin Bieber's stylist has claimed that the singer's recent dramatic change of hairstyle has been planned for some time.  Bieber trimmed his trademark hair earlier this week, instead opting for a closely-cropped shorter cut, with Vanessa Price claiming that it was the right time for the change.

"He was ready," Price told People. "Cutting your hair is just part of the evolution and growing process for anyone, and I think he was just ready."  The stylist added that the change of hairstyle had actually been planned for a while, contrary to Bieber's insinuation that he had only decided on the revamp recently.

"We've been talking about it over the last six months or so, more or less," Price added. "It's definitely been in the works for a while."  Bieber revealed this week that he plans to auction the cut-off pieces of his hair for charity.

Jordan inconveniences Victoria Beckham

Yesterday, Victoria was due to be flying to LA, but had to hastily rearrange her flight when she found out she'd be sharing stale cabin air with Jordan.

Amusingly, Jordan heard the rumour that Posh was getting her flight and tweeted this random selection of nouns and verbs: "Taking off people saying victoria on flight this is not true tweet soonx". The poor thing was sadly unaware that she was apparently the very reason for Posh's absence.

jordan

We don't want Posh to have to get a flight with Jordan unless we get to board it too and stare at them while shovelling complimentary peanuts into our starstruck gobs, so we're pleased Posh changed her plans - especially as she instead apparently ended up catching the same flight as Cheryl, a much more agreeable travel companion, we're sure you'll agree.

Obviously the Beckham camp are keeping schtum about all this, only saying "We don’t comment on the Beckham family travel details, however we had several flights on hold for yesterday and today for convenience and for security reasons" - but that's not a denial, is it?

victoria_beckham1

Yeah, so this is all terribly petty, and that's why we like it so much.

'Smallville' exec: 'Finale may surprise'

Smallville producer Brian Peterson has claimed that the forthcoming series finale could surprise viewers. The CW drama, which stars Tom Welling as Clark Kent, will conclude its run later this year after ten seasons.

"Every version of Superman in the movies, comics and TV show[s] is a slight variation on a theme," Peterson told Assignment X. "As long as there is respect for the character and the basis of that character, there can be a lot of different interpretations."

He added: "I think we will walk that balance rather nicely. That's our goal."  The showrunner also admitted that he has mixed feelings about the series finally coming to an end.

tom welling

"It's going to be very bittersweet to leave these characters we've seen [for] so long and we love so much," he confessed. "But I want to feel inspired [by the finale], as a fan. That's what I want."

"Namor is great," he said. "There was this strange double edge to the guy. And there was also something about living underwater that I liked a lot."

He said that he was no fan of Captain America. "But I liked Spider-Man and I liked the Fantastic Four for a bit. I really liked Sgt. Rock. But the Sub-Mariner, he was the alternative one. The alt-superhero. He was the sort of Bohemian comic book. I like that."
